What is Reverse Frosting？

Reverse frosting technology is a new printing process that has emerged in recent years. It requires several special base oil or gloss treatments to complete, and some people refer to it as the reverse polishing process, which is seen as a new process of local polishing.

This process is to print the printed material in the normal color sequence, and then use offset printing (or offline) to print a layer of special base oil in areas that do not require high brightness after the ink is completely dried or cured. After the base oil is completely dry, UV gloss oil is coated on the entire surface of the printed material in a full plate manner. This causes an cohesive reaction in the area where the UV gloss oil and base oil come into contact, forming a small granular ink film, Form a matte or frosted surface, while creating a high gloss mirror surface in the UV glossy area of the unprinted base oil.

Ultimately, the surface of the printed product forms localized high gloss and localized frosted low gloss areas. Two completely different gloss effects achieve high contrast effects in local images, embellishing and highlighting images and texts with glossy mirror surfaces.

The main characteristics of reverse frosting are:

(1) The reverse frosted surface has a whitening effect and a frosted texture;

(2) Reverse frosting is easy to scrape off with a blade and belongs to the category of silk screen UV technology, which is completely different from reverse UV and reverse embossing.
